Drip - Drip - Drip

Some of my favorite Gonder Ceramic Art pottery is the 700 Series, especially in Drip Glazes.

I probably have over 30 individual pieces with this wonderful, lava flow like glaze on them.  Of course, Gonder used this same drip glaze technique on a variety of other series, such as the #626 "S" Swirl Ashtray, #924 Sleeping Dog Lid Cookie Jar, the LaGonda Kitchen Ware line, the #550 Chinese Junk and even some lamps, just to name a few.

As you can see by my photos, the Drip Glazes of Gonder are very colorful and well varied.  I have pieces in Light Grey, Royal Blue, Yellow, Black, Chartreuse, Victorian Wine and Forest Green, all with White Lava Drip.

One of my favorite and very hard to find pieces is the #755 Medium Tall Single Band vase in Black with White Drip.  I believe they make three different sizes; #369 - 6.25". #755 - 12.25" and a #754 - ??".  The #754 is unknown to me and is described as #754 Large Tall Single Band vase as opposed to my Medium size one.

I hope that you enjoy the photos of my collection of
Gonder Drip Glaze Pottery and ask that you feel free
to post your thoughts, comments and photos of your
own Gonder Drips in this blog.

Thanks for reading!

Gonder Ceramic Arts Pottery; the Beginning

To look at me, you'd never think one of my biggest vices was collecting pottery.  I mean, I'm a "biker" by all accounts; very long hair, beard, double pierced ear, two nice size biker tattoos and love to wear black, blue jeans, leather and silver.  Oh, and yes, I DO own and ride a big bike!

Why shoot, I guess I even surprised myself when I got "the bug" of collecting Gonder Art Pottery.   It all started with wanting a cookie jar for my new bachelor apartment.  As I hunted the department stores for one, all I ever found were jars made to look like apples or teddy bears, mushrooms, Pillsbury Dough Boys and a huge selection of Coke and Pepsi related cookie jars.  None of those were "me".

I wanted something simple, something more masculine and strong looking.  So, I did a "cookie jar" search on Ebay and found one that appealed to me; Gonder's P-24 Cookie Jar in an ivory glaze with dark brown sponge and drip outer glaze.  I placed a bid and won it for $21.00.

Once that cookie jar was in my hand, I felt myself drawn to the heaviness of it, the simple lines and design and the nostalgicness (new word.. just made that up) of it.  So back to Ebay I went in search of other items named Gonder Ceramic Art.

From that one jar, my collection/obsession has grown to now over 350 pieces and there are still a lot of "don't haves" on my wish list.

Yes, my friends, I admit it.  I am a Gonderholic.

Now if you'll excuse me, I need to change the light bulb in my Gonder Ceramic Arts "Driftwood Lamp", grab a cookie from the ol' Gonder Cookie Jar and wash it  down with a cold mug of milk from the Gonder #902 Twisted Handle Mug in Red Flambe.  ;-)
